Hindi gets its name from the Persian word Hind, which means 'Land of the Indus River'. In the early 11th century, Turkish invaders named the language of the region as Hindi, i.e., 'the language of the land of the Indus River'. While it is the official language of India, English is the second official language. Hindi is also spoken in some countries outside India, such as Mauritius, Fiji, Suriname, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, and Nepal. Hindi emerged in its present form through various stages during which it was known by other names.

Importance of Hindi day

It is advised to use it everywhere in India to promote Hindi language. Especially where English is mostly used. For this, from September 14 to September 21, it is celebrated as Official Language Week. During this, many literary and cultural programs are also organized in the country.
