Areas of life that we must focus on
Take a moment to reflect upon every area of your life and then give it a score out of 10! Any area where you feel the score is bad is an opportunity for you to start working on this area. Just knowing what you need to work on is one step closer to a happy life!
Remember! Your happiness is also influenced by your current environment
HEALTH
Focus both on mental and physical health. Feed the right food to your body and the right thoughts to your mind.
HAPPINESS
Research shows that happiness leads to a wide range of benefits for our performance, health, relationships and more. So, rather than success being the key to happiness, research shows that happiness could in fact be the key to success.
RELATIONSHIPS
Being more connected to friends, family, partners and others can clear your head and boost your mood. Whether they’re friends, family members, partners, mentors, colleagues or people you’re just getting to know, working on your relationships can be great for your mental health.
TIME
Time is the most precious resource because you can’t get it back. The answer to this question really matters because you can’t get wasted time back. People often think of money as their most valuable resource, and while it is important because it allows you to buy the things you need and want, you can get money back.
SOCIAL
This is your friendships, this is your relationships outside of family and this is what you’re going to do socially. Do you want to spend more time with your friends? Whatever changes you want to make in your social life, put them in this category.
PERSONAL GROWTH
Self-improvement and personal growth allow you to develop the skills and discipline to make all of that possible. Sometimes making successful changes in your practice requires making changes in yourself as well.
CAREER + FINANCES
When you factor out sleep, your job is pretty much half of your life. That’s no small amount. So if your job is something you either hate or are indifferent about, that’s about half of your life you either hate or are indifferent about. Not good. We will spend a significant amount of time at work, so it’s important to make sure that time isn’t killing your soul.
CONTRIBUTION
Contribution seems to be very important to our spiritual needs. It can be defined as a sense of service and focus on helping, giving to and supporting others. Contribution along with growth are strongly linked to fulfillment.
FUN & RECREATION
What are you going to do for fun? Are you going to take vacations? Are you going to join a hockey league? One of our clients, she is a very athletic person. She’s awesome. She’s got so much energy and she’s involved in hockey, she’s involved in marathons, and that’s what she does for fun. When she’s not at work, she’s out there on the athletic field and so that’s how she spends her fun and that’s what she does for her recreation. For others, it’s vacations or weekends away. It’s time with friends. Whatever it is for you, put some goals down. Say “what do I want to do this year that’s going to be fun?” Skydiving? Hang-gliding? Surfing? Whatever it is, put it down.
GROWTH AND LEARNING
What are you doing to learn more and grow outside of school? What are you doing to learn about yourself, educate yourself on topics, and help give yourself a competitive edge to thrive in college & beyond, etc.
Here are more specific things you can do:
