This is the reason why no auspicious work should be done in Pitru Paksha
Pitru Paksha is the time from the full moon of the month of Bhadra to the new moon of the month of Ashwin when the ancestors come to earth from the world of gods. It is believed that no auspicious auspicious work should be done these days. The reason behind this has been explained in the scriptures that if we concentrate on auspicious works, then we will not feel inclined to worship and worship our ancestors. For this reason, auspicious works are started only after the Pitru Paksha is over.
At the time when the Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month is going on. These 15 days come in Pitru Paksha. These days people perform Shradh of their ancestors. Shraddha means deeds done with devotion. As soon as a man is born, he is wrapped in the sheet of three debts - Dev's debt, Rishi's debt, Pitra's debt. Among these, Pitra loan is considered to be the main one, which is also known as Pitra Yagya. In this, Havi is offered to the ancestors and forefathers of their clan with reverence and gratitude.
Our forefathers and forefathers are the pillars of our prosperous present life. This auspicious occasion of Shraddha Paksha is an auspicious occasion to repay the debts of our ancestors. In Manusmriti, Manu Maharaj has said that ‘Archayantu Pitrin Shraddhai’, that is, worship your forefathers and forefathers through Shradh Karma on this auspicious day of Pitru Paksha. In Shatpath Brahmin texts, these ancestors have been called gods. He has been said to fulfill all kinds of wishes. It is believed that this is the only time in the whole year when the ancestors descend from the ancestral world and come to earth. Pitru Paksha starts from the full moon of Bhadra month which continues till the new moon day of Ashwin month. There are sixteen Shradhs in this period which is also known as Mahalaya Shradh.
Somewhere in every religious activity of our Sanatan system, there is definitely an element of scientificity. In Pitru Paksha the ancestors come to earth with the energy of the universe. These days they take their respective parts and return with the same cosmic energy from Pratipada of Shukla Paksha. It has also been said in the texts of astrology that during Pitrupaksha, the earth stays near the solar system. All the offerings made on these days reach the Sun. Along with physical purification, mental purification is also mandatory at the time of Shraddha.
On the day of Shraddha, after feeding the Brahmin, there is a law for the family members to take food. Before that everyone observes fasting. Our sages say in this regard that it strengthens the digestive power of the body and the circulation of life force in the body is smooth. Spiritual energy is obtained by this method. There is great glory of virtuous charity. Lord Shri Krishna has said that I myself take the donation given to the deserving in the name of ancestors and take it to Pitru Lok. There is a law to give grass to the cow on the occasion of Shraddha. According to our scriptures, the cow is considered to be the abode of all the gods. That's why the sages have also given the message of serving the cow here. Offering food to crows in Shraddha shows our responsibility towards the bird world.
It is a belief that Pitrupaksha is only the period of dead people. this is not right. This time is an opportunity to understand our responsibility towards the ancestors and to connect with our original heritage. The purpose behind banning auspicious works for 15 days in Pitrupaksha by our sages was that if we get entangled in other auspicious works during these days, then how will we transmit inner spiritual energy and devotion to welcome the ancestors. That’s why this Pitrupaksha is dedicated only to our ancestors.
